[Sea Opening] Swimming Information for 2025 Chatan Park Sunset Beach & Araha Beach

The days are getting warmer and more comfortable these days. Chatan Town, located in central Okinawa Prefecture, is an attractive town located along the west coast where you can see a beautiful and magnificent sea. During the swimming season, there are two beaches in the town where you can enjoy playing in the sea in a comfortable environment under the supervision of lifeguards, and jellyfish prevention nets are set up in the swimming area.

[Sea Opening Ceremony]

Swimming has been permitted at Chatan Park Sunset Beach and Araha Beach since Friday, April 11th in the 2025 fiscal year. On the morning of the day, a safety prayer ceremony and a beach opening ceremony were held.

[Sunset Beach]

Chatan Park Sunset Beach in Mihama, Chatan Town, is a town beach adjacent to the popular tourist spot American Village. Thanks to the artificial bay, the beach is calm with no waves, so children can safely enter the sea. Qualified lifeguards are always on duty, so you can enjoy the sea safely.

The beach has been undergoing improvement work for the past few years, and the sandy area is now larger than before, making it easier for visitors to relax on the beach.

[Beach Management Office]

The management office, located on the right side of the beach as you face the sea, handles inquiries about lost items, BBQ reservations, and rental equipment.

Note: Lost items will be stored for one month.

[Rental equipment price list]

We also rent out items such as swim rings, parasols, and volleyballs so you can enjoy the beach even more.

Rentals are accepted at the beach management office on a prepayment basis.

[Toilet (center of the beach)]

There are two toilets, one in the center of the beach and one next to the management office. Multi-purpose toilets are also available in each location.

There are shower rooms and locker rooms in the toilets next to the management office. Showers can be used for 100 yen for 3 minutes.

The attached locker room can be used for 200 yen per visit, so we recommend leaving valuables in the lockers.

[Chatan Park Sunset Beach BBQ Area]

Chatan Park Sunset Beach, where you can enjoy barbecues even during the winter, began taking reservations on Saturday, March 1st this year.

- Hygiene fees vary depending on the number of tents and their size.
Small tent (8-10 people) 1 tent = 500 yen
Large tent (11-20 people) 1 tent = 1,000 yen
Small tent + large tent (21-39 people) 2 tents = 1,500 yen

・BBQ reception (last time) is from 10:00 to 17:00.

・BBQ equipment can be used from 10:00 to 19:00.

・Tents are available from 10:00 to 20:00.

*Lights will be turned off at 8:00 p.m.

[Araha Beach]

Araha Beach, located in Chatan, Chatan Town, adjacent to Araha Park, is a long beach filled with an exotic atmosphere, making you feel as if you are overseas.

This 600m long beach with pure white sand and clear blue sea and sky is a popular spot for families, dog walkers, and locals alike, as well as tourists visiting Okinawa.

It is within walking distance of Chatan Park Sunset Beach, so some people use it as a walking course along the sea.

*In the event of bad weather or sea conditions, the start and end times may change and swimming may be unavailable all day.

[Shop ARAHA SEA SIDE TERRACE]

ARAHA SEA SIDE TERRACE, a shop next to the beach management building, sells Okinawan dishes such as taco rice and Okinawa soba, as well as shaved ice, tropical drinks, and Orion beer.

[Guide to using BBQ]

We will resume business on Saturday, March 1st for the 2025 fiscal year.

*Reservations can be made from one month before the planned reservation date.

Example: If you plan to use the facility in June, you can make a reservation from May 1st through June.
