[Beach Opening] Swimming Information for 2025 Chatan Park Sunset Beach & Araha Beach

The days are getting warmer and more comfortable these days. Chatan Town, located in central Okinawa Prefecture, is an attractive town located along the west coast, with beautiful and magnificent views of the ocean. During the swimming season, nets are set up within the swimming area to prevent jellyfish from entering, and there are two beaches in the town where you can enjoy swimming in the sea in a comfortable environment under the supervision of lifeguards.

[Beach Opening Ceremony]

Swimming will be permitted at Chatan Park Sunset Beach and Araha Beach from Friday, April 11th in fiscal year 2025. On the morning of the day, a safety prayer ceremony and beach opening ceremony were held.

[Sunset Beach]

Chatan Park Sunset Beach, located in Mihama, Chatan Town, is a town beach adjacent to the popular tourist spot, American Village. Thanks to the artificial bay, the beach is calm with no waves or wind, so even children can safely enter the water. Qualified lifeguards are always on duty, so you can enjoy the sea safely.

The beach has been undergoing improvement work for the past few years, and the sandy area is now larger than before, making it easier for visitors to relax on the beach.

Rentals are accepted at the beach management office on a prepayment basis.

There are two toilets, one in the center of the beach and one next to the management office. Multi-purpose toilets are also available in each location.

The toilet next to the management office has a shower room and a locker room. The shower can be used for 100 yen for 3 minutes.

Chatan Park Sunset Beach, where you can enjoy barbecues even during the winter, began taking reservations on Saturday, March 1st this year.

[Araha Beach]

Araha Beach, located in Chatan, Chatan Town, adjacent to Araha Park, is a long beach filled with an exotic atmosphere that makes you feel like you're overseas.

The 600m long beach, with its pure white sand and vibrant blue sea and sky, is a popular spot for families, dog walkers, local residents, and tourists visiting Okinawa.

It is within walking distance of Chatan Park Sunset Beach, so some people use it as a walking course along the sea.

ARAHA SEA SIDE TERRACE, a shop next to the beach management building, sells Okinawan dishes such as taco rice and Okinawa soba, as well as shaved ice, tropical drinks, and Orion beer.
