Mihama American Village
"Ultra Monster Walk" filming location 2
Chatan's leading entertainment spot!
Okinawa's only Ferris wheel and a huge shopping mall. Mihama American Village is an entertainment spot with a cinema complex, a pool, and a beach access. Stepping into the area will transport you to a world of exotic charm.
This area was originally the sea, but after the adjacent US military airfield was returned to Japan in 1981, land reclamation and development progressed. Full-scale construction work began in 1997, and the facility that would become the current American Village opened the following year. The current structure was almost complete around 2004, and since then it has become one of Okinawa's leading tourist spots, attracting many tourists.
Recreate the streets of America!
As its name suggests, Mihama American Village recreates an American townscape. From the colorful buildings and English signs, to the bricks on the sidewalks and even the individual streetlights, no compromises were made in the town's construction. As a result, you can enjoy an atmosphere that makes you feel as if you've actually come to the west coast of America. With international hotels lining the streets nearby, the area is currently becoming more and more lively.
Stroll around town on the "Ultra Kaiju Walk"!
American Village was also featured prominently in the broadcast of "Ultra Monster Walk." At the beginning of the show, three people appeared - "Fake Ultraman," "Ali Mefilas," and "Nonmalt" - with the Ferris wheel, the symbol of the town, in the background. As his name suggests, "Fake Ultraman" was a fake Ultraman, "Ali Mefilas" was an intelligent monster and so he mainly made jokes, while "Nonmalt" played the role of a victim, having had his home taken by humans in the past.
Take a snap at an Instagram-worthy spot!
There are many photogenic spots in American Village. Young female tourists flock to these spots to take photos and upload them to social media sites such as Instagram. The monsters also took a commemorative photo on the wall with the car painting on it. They created a colorful photo that would look great on social media.
If you visit American Village, we recommend taking lots of photos and uploading them to social media. You're sure to get lots of "likes."
The night lighting is also fantastic!
American Village is always busy, day or night. This is because at night, the Ferris wheel and the entire town are illuminated, creating a completely different atmosphere than during the day. Many bars open in the evening, creating a completely different adult atmosphere from the daytime shopping mall atmosphere. There are also many restaurants that are open until late at night, so if you're planning a night out in Chatan, American Village is the place to be. Be sure to experience "Chatan at night."
